Curb Chain

Curb Chains are a style of chain that has been around for hundreds of years and has been made long before modern manufacturing technology existed.
Curb Chain is mostly used for horses and is attached to a horse’s curb strap to help give the rider control of the curb bit when riding the horse. It also helps to keep the curb bit steady and in place.
In this use, the curb chain applies pressure to the curb groove under a horse's chin. The curb chain is attached to rings at the end of the curb bit, so when the horse’s cheek moves forward, the chain is pulled and tightened in the curb groove.
Basically, Curb Chain has links that have been twisted and flattened, so that all the links lie very flat. Usually, Curb Chain’s flattened loops are oval in shape and all the same size. In some Curb Chains, the links in the chain may be made round, and then fed through a rolling mill for greater flatness.
Curb Chains can vary in width and linkage allowing for different types of chain to be used depending on the use or horse-riding style.
Thanks to their design, Curb Chains are quite thick and heavy, which makes them extremely strong and durable. This can made them a good choice for a range of uses where strength and stylish looks are important.
